Concealer Crazed

After muchhh hesitation, I finally decided to start a blog. It's crazy how popular social media, youtube, blogging, vlogging...etc has become after just a couple of years. Here I am jumping on the bandwagon!

I am by noooo means a beauty or makeup expert/professional, I just thought I would throw out my experience and opinions about some concealer products that I own and have used.

I am a complete concealer junkie, it is by far my favorite makeup item. Mainly, because I have horrendous dark circles and I have made it a mission of mine to own all concealers known to mankind in search of the perfect concealer! At this point I'm basically collecting concealers, like a squirrel collects nuts before winter. Some products have been used more than others, but all judged equally. (Sorry in advance for the poor lighting in the pictures!)

Main Concealers

Primers for Concealers

BENEFIT Stay Don't Stray [left]: I thought that since these products are concealer related I'd add them in! The reason why this guy is so tiny is because it came in the Benefit "ulta"mate sexy six kit, which I must add I love getting kits like this because I'm somewhat of a beginner to non drugstore makeup, and this kit is a really nice way to sample different products before completely investing in products that can be on the pricey side. Anyway, I have yet to use this as an eyeshadow primer, but as for when using concealer, I didn't notice a complete difference. I going to have to test out this product more before I can see.

PHYSICIANS FORMULA Gentle Cover Concealer Stick Yellow [right]: As for this primer, I get the best results when I apply it under my eye, rub it in with my finger, afterwards apply my concealer, either with my finger or applicator in dots under my eye, finally take a beauty sponge and gently pat the concealer to blend on top of the primer. This way I'm creating layers, instead of smearing it all together which would defeat using the primer in the first place.

Backup/Unopened Concealers

MAYBELLINE Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer 320 Ivory [left]; MAYBELLINE Instant Age Rewind Eraser Treatment Concealer 120 Light [right] I have heard so sooo many good things about this concealer from youtube beauty gurus that I can't wait to try it! Plus, I have the eraser foundation version that is one of my top favorite foundations!

BENEFIT Boi-ing: Again this is from another Benefit kit, the How to Look the Best at Everything makeup kit in medium. You just can't go wrong with kits! It comes with two shades, '02 & 03', I honestly probably should have gone with the light kit, but I got this during the summer when I had a bit of a tan, either way I'm still very happy with this purchase. I had heard a lot about this concealer, and then when I heard about this kit it was the perfect opportunity to try it out, as well as other products. Also, this way I could sample two different shades, without having to buy two full things of it for double the cost! I do have to say it's as good as they say it is. I really like the formula and consistency of this concealer. It goes on smooth and has good coverage as well!

BENEFIT Erase Paste: This is yet another concealer that I had heard a lot about, but was hesitant to try because of the price. Then I saw this bad boy in the checkout aisle in Ulta for a fraction of the cost! Granted, it's also a fraction of the size, but that didn't matter to me 1. because I have a bunch of other concealers I need to use/try two. I just wanted to see what the product was all about.

I do have to say it's not what I expected from all of the hype. This concealer has a very sticky, gunky initial texture that surprised me, as for pay off it applies okay and has good coverage. Which puts me in limbo, because I don't like the texture of this concealer at all, but the after putting it on I quite like it. Also, I got the shade 'No2 medium', which is a lot darker than I like my concealers to be, but they only had the medium shade in the mini travel size. So I usually put a highlighting concealer on top of this concealer to brighten it up.

COVERGIRL & OLAY Simply Ageless: Out of all of the concealers I currently own, this is hands down my favorite! Sadly, I'm 99.99% sure that it's discontinued. Every time I'm in the makeup aisle at the drugstore I keep an eye out for it, and I never seem to find it. I originally selected this concealer because I was trying to find a new concealer to try out, and noticed it was Covergirl & Olay, Olay being my number one daily moisturizer, so I thought I'd give it a whirl. I got shade '210', a slightly lighter than my skin tone, which makes this the ideal concealer for me. I love love love the consistency of this concealer! It's so creamy and light to the touch, coming from I assume the white swirl of Olay. Also, it applies just as smooth as the texture, it doesn't feel heavy at all. BIG thumbs up! Covergirl should definitely think about bringing it back!

RIMMEL Wake Me Up: Yettt another concealer that I heard a lot about through the grapevine. I was really excited when I saw that Walmart carried this, especially since they don't have the foundation version. I got the shade '230 Vary Fair/Light', again glad I got the lighter shade, opposed to a shade exactly my skin tone. I like my concealers to add as much brightness to under my eyes as possible! Darn you dark circles!!! This concealer is light and liquid-y. By liquid-y, I don't mean it in a bad way, just that when I apply this concealer, I like to dot it under my eye, what a second or two for it to "set", then rub it in with my fingers. When I dot it and rub it in right away I feel like it "slides" around too much and I don't get as much coverage. Other than that I really like this concealer and the pay off.

BAREMINERALS Well-Rested: This is more of a highlighter than a concealer, but they all go together. This came with the Well-Rested Trio, in the shade 'clear'. Before testing this concealer at home, I was expecting it to be like a concealer, or if anything like the dream lumi, but then again I obviously didn't read the packaging! It's not quite "clear", but it is more on the translucent side with a sheen. This is definitely good for layering not only with your concealer, but wherever you want to illuminate your face, like the T zone.

MAYBELLINE Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer: This has the tiniest bit of life left to it. I have used this concealer so much that practically all of the writing has rubbed off! Judging by this, and the back up one I bought, I'd have to say I like this highlighting concealer. It definitely gets the job done. I like to use this as it's named, and highlight my under eye after I use a different concealer to add some extra brightness.

REVLON Photo Ready: Moving onto another concealer that most people would consider an "empty", where as I like to scrape until I get every little bit out! I got the shade '003 Light Medium'. Despite have a backup of this concealer, somewhere, in the same shade, I need to get a shade lighter just for the brightness I like. This is another absolute favorite concealer of mine. It has a thick, creamy consistency, with amazing coverage! If I didn't know any better I would say this is a high end concealer. This one is definitely worth scraping! Think about how much product you're losing by just throwing it away once you reach the brim! Don't think of it as being frugal, just getting your money's worth! Which you deserve!

MAC Mineralize: My "fanciest" high end concealer of the lot. Definitely another "empty", but it's a lot harder to make sure I've gotten the most out of it when it's in this type of container. Oh, but trust me I'm trying! This is one of my top liquid/stick concealers. Great consistency, texture, coverage, all of the above! Worth the pretty penny it costs, and definitely would repurchase this!

I actually got this when I was in Korea, initially looking for the Mac Studio Finish concealer, because I read that had more coverage, but for some reason that I can't remember, the lady told me not to get that one, and me being the non confrontational meek person I am I just got this one instead. Which, again I'm totally happy with, but I want to branch out and try the other Mac concealers for sure!

Between stick and pot concealers I can't say I have a favorite. I like them both, either way I end up using my finger! So, I guess it doesn't really matter to me how it comes, as long as I can get my hands on concealer I'm happy!

If you have any concealers you'd like to recommend I'd love to know about them! :D

What's your favorite type/brand of concealer?!
